and a big hotel commission finally out in public

Hello friend!
How exactly did August sneak up on us? Have you been enjoying summer, with all it's bounty and beauty? I sure have!  Let's keep that up until the snow flies.

Last month I finished a 3 piece commission for a high end hotel in Missoula Montana. It was a big deal! And the paintings are big-- 4 feet tall, in fact. They are mixed media paintings, full of vintage Montana maps, words and ideas. They are titled: She's A Trout Wrangler, My Lady of the Rockies, and Under the Rocks Are the Words. I used a lot of phrases from Norman Maclean's novella A River Runs Through It, a beautiful story about the Blackfoot River, my home valley (read it!). I'm still in 'pinch me' mode about this whole situation, and couldn't be happier with how they've turned out. If you find yourself near the Clark Fork River in Missoula, stop by the Edgewater Hotel and give them a look. Now that these giant characters have graduated from my little studio and are out in the world, I have more space to make new paintings for an upcoming show next month in Livingston MT, at the Frame Garden Gallery. Stay tuned for that. And another exhibition with Western Art Collector and Cassens Fine Art in Hamilton Montana is on the horizon in November.
